Universities in Adelaide are ranked within the top 2%1 in the world and have produced numerous Nobel Laureates and Rhodes Scholars, leading the world in their various fields of expertise.

Adelaide's three public universities are Flinders University, the University of Adelaide and the University of South Australia. In 2026, the University of Adelaide and University of South Australia will combine to create Adelaide University.  Adelaide is also home to Torrens University, a private Australian institution.
