After a long but exciting flight to your new home, we’re here to help you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. Our friendly student ambassadors are ready to greet you at Adelaide Airport.
StudyAdelaide will have an Airport Welcome Desk operating outside international arrivals in the lead up to the start of Semesters 1 and 2 to welcome students travelling on key international flights.
Come and say hello!
When you visit the Airport Welcome Desk you will receive a gift bag which includes tips, gifts and snacks to get you started in Adelaide.

Getting around Adelaide Airport is easy! International flights disembark into the terminal on Level 1.
Once inside the terminal, head to Immigration for passport checking and then through to baggage reclaim on Level 0, this is where you can meet others - including the StudyAdelaide Airport Welcome Desk.

When you land in Australia, you will need to complete an incoming passenger card; these will be provided to you onboard your flight or at the arrival terminal. This is a legal document that you must complete and provide accurate information about you and your arrival.
As a visitor, there are certain items you're not allowed to bring into Australia. Due to the country's strict biosecurity measures, it's important to understand what you can and can’t bring.
You will need to declare items on the incoming passenger card and confirm if you are carrying any food, plant, wood, animal items or products, or more than AU$10,000 in cash. If you don’t declare goods or provide an incorrect declaration, you could receive a fine of up to $5,500 or risk having your visa cancelled.
To find out more, visit Department of Home Affairs.
Most of the personal items you pack, such as clothes, footwear, and toiletries, are exempt from taxes and duties in Australia.
You are allowed to purchase restricted amounts of general goods, alcohol, and tobacco duty-free.
Getting to and from the airport is easy, it’s just 7 km from Adelaide’s city centre. There are buses, taxis and ride sharing options waiting at the airport to take you to your accommodation.

We know that finding accommodation that suits your needs and budget can be challenging, especially when arriving in a new country.
We recommend booking short-term housing before you arrive in Australia, and looking for longer-term options once you arrive. This gives you time to explore your new neighbourhood and understand the best housing options for you.
