Simon: Le Cordon Bleu Graduate Open's Award-Winning Restaurant

Simon, from China, graduated with an Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management (Cuisine) from Le Cordon Bleu. He’s now the Owner and Head Chef of ODÉ Bistro in North Adelaide, a restaurant known for its storytelling through food and award-winning cuisine.

Where are you from, and what have you studied and at which institution?

I'm from China, and I completed my Certificate III and Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery and an Advanced Diploma of Hospitality at Le Cordon Bleu.

My studies prepared me by building my fundamentals, not just with knowledge but also with practical cooking skills, which allowed me to start in a fast-paced, high-pressure workplace straight after graduating. 

Adelaide's industry connections also helped me find job positions in the city, as everybody is connected. 

What are some of your favourite things to do in Adelaide? 

Some of my favourite things to do in Adelaide are café hopping and beach trips. Outside of my culinary studies, I focused on self-training in wines, mixology, and food photography.
