Entry Requirements

To be accepted for enrolment in a Doctor of Philosophy candidature, an applicant must:

Have at least one of the following Australian qualifications (which must include studies relevant to the proposed field of research), or the equivalent qualification as approved by the relevant authorized delegate:

  • A Bachelors degree with Honours class 1 or 2A
  • A Graduate Diploma or Masters degree by coursework with a research component of at least 18 units, with an average grade of Distinction or better in the research component
  • A Masters by Research degree

English language requirements

IELTS (Academic): 6.5 Overall with 6.0 Speaking, 6.5 Writing, 6.0 Reading, 6.0 Listening; TOEFL iBT: 80 Overall with 18 Speaking, 22 Writing, 18 Reading, 18 Listening; Pearson PTE Academic: 58 Overall with 58 Speaking, 50 Writing, 50 Reading, 50 Listening; Cambridge C1 Advanced: 176 Overall with 169 Speaking, 169 Writing, 169 Reading, 169 Listening; Duolingo (Up to and including Semester 2, 2024): Overall 105-110

Course Details

Undertake a PhD in Computing, Information Technology or Mathematical Sciences

  • Analyse the past or reprogram the future
  • Utilise technology to improve pest management.
  • Improve security of digital health information systems.
  • Design statistically based programs for computer aided diagnosis of breast cancer.
