2022 International Student of the Year
When Elvis left behind his career as a medical doctor in Nigeria to study biomedical engineering at Flinders University, he had a single goal in mind: to learn how to make affordable medical devices so people can get the care they need, no matter how much money they have. Now, on the cusp of graduating, Elvis has already created a project device that’s piquing significant interest and he’s more determined than ever to make his dream a reality. With his positive outlook and inner drive to succeed our judges have awarded Elvis the 2022 International Student of the Year.

Elvis: From Doctor to Biomedical Engineer
Elvis, from Nigeria, graduated with a Master of Engineering (Biomedical) from Flinders University. Originally working as a medical doctor, he chose Adelaide to pursue his passion for engineering and develop solutions to healthcare challenges in his home country. Strong academic support and recognition through two StudyAdelaide International Student Awards in 2022 helped build his confidence and opened new pathways to make a meaningful global impact.
