Where are you from, and what are you studying and at which institution?

I'm from China, and I am currently studying a Bachelor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Adelaide University

In my course, I am not just designing the circuits; I am thinking about how I can reduce people’s cost of living, produce better batteries, and make renewable energy accessible for everyone by simplifying circuits or reducing energy loss.

I first came to Adelaide in 2019 for my sister’s graduation, and I was amazed by Adelaide and the university. I then decided I wanted to study in Adelaide for high school. Due to COVID, I arrived in 2022 to start my high school at Eynesbury College. I then decided to study Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

How did you feel supported as an international student when you arrived in Adelaide?

At first, my sister and college teachers helped me a lot. They spent their free time showing me around Adelaide, hiking and playing sports on the weekend. I then got to join StudyAdelaide events held for the international student community.

Now, I am more connected to the local community by contributing through volunteering at the South Australian State Emergency Service (SASES).

Adelaide is the perfect place to grow, it’s a city that feels calm yet full of possibilities, where you can build confidence, independence and lifelong friendships.

What’s been your favourite experience while living and studying in Adelaide?

Some of my favourite experiences are studying, attending leadership meetings and career sessions. I enjoy spending my weekend, training, hiking, going for a slow walk, or just grabbing a book in a quiet local café. I love outdoor life!
