Where are you from, and what have you studied and at which institution?
I'm from Zimbabwe, and I completed my Master of Professional Accounting at The University of Adelaide, which in 2026 will combine with The University of South Australia to become Adelaide University.
What motivated you to choose Adelaide over other Australian cities for your studies?
The city's smaller size fosters a strong sense of community and a close-knit environment that is advantageous for networking, offering opportunities to engage with local businesses, alumni, and peers, which is instrumental in career development.
I am also someone who enjoys anything artistic, so Adelaide's vibrant annual festivals, such as the Adelaide Fringe, which celebrate diverse cultures through arts and music, drew me to study here. The city's multicultural festivals create an inviting atmosphere, enhancing the overall university experience.
Lastly, the convenience of Adelaide's transport services significantly drew me to study and stay in the city. The accessibility of public transport, including buses, trams, and trains, makes exploring the city and its natural surroundings hassle-free.
The efficient transport system ensures that students can balance their academic responsibilities with leisure activities, enhancing their overall quality of life.
What are some of your favourite things to do in Adelaide?
In Adelaide, I find myself drawn to its vibrant outdoor and cultural scene.
During the summer months, I love exploring the city's stunning beaches, each offering a unique slice of coastal beauty. As the seasons change and temperatures cool, I shift my focus to hiking, which is incredibly rewarding here. Trails like those at Belair, Hallett Cove Beach Boardwalk, Mount Osmond, and Mount Lofty provide breathtaking views and a refreshing escape into nature.
Beyond the great outdoors, I'm passionate about discovering new restaurants with my friends. Adelaide's restaurant scene is thriving, and I relish trying out different cuisines.
Music is another passion of mine, and I eagerly attend concerts and festivals featuring international artists when they tour here, soaking in the vibrant atmosphere and diverse performances.
