Where are you from, and what have you studied and at which institution?
I'm from Nepal, and I studied a Master of Engineering (Civil) from Flinders University. My education in Adelaide equipped me with both theoretical knowledge and practical experience, which were essential for my career in civil engineering.
From learning technical skills such as design principles and project management to gaining real-world exposure through my placement, the course was very well structured to meet industry expectations.
Group projects, lab work, and interactive lectures also helped me develop soft skills like teamwork, communication, and problem-solving. These aspects of my education directly contributed to my smooth transition into a professional engineering role.
I chose Flinders University because of its excellent academic reputation and the wide range of support services it offers, especially for international students. The peaceful campus atmosphere and the vibrant multicultural environment made me feel confident about my decision.
What motivated you to choose Adelaide over other Australian cities for your studies?
The beauty and liveability of Adelaide truly stood out to me when I began researching places to pursue higher education. I was drawn to its reputation as a safe, clean, and culturally diverse city that provides a great balance between academic life and peaceful living.
Beyond that, Adelaide offers a welcoming environment for international students, with a cost of living that is more affordable than in many other major Australian cities.
When I discovered that my area of interest, Civil Engineering, was offered here with strong academic and industry integration, it felt like the perfect destination to build both my educational and professional future. The university offered the exact program I was passionate about, with opportunities for industry experience, which was a major priority for me.
