Where are you from, and what have you studied and at which institution?
I'm from the Philippines, and I studied a Master of Business Administration (Hospitality and Tourism Leadership, Digital Management) at Kaplan Business School.
Adelaide is steadily expanding in key sectors like hospitality, tourism, and digital management, creating a wide range of opportunities for students to explore.
What motivated you to choose Adelaide over other Australian cities for your studies?
I've always been a big fan of vibrant festivals and scenic nature getaways. So, when I made the decision to study in Australia, these were key factors I had in mind. That’s why I chose Adelaide.
I can confidently say it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Here, I get to enjoy a world-class education while immersing myself in the things I love most.
Known as the Festival State of Australia, South Australia never runs out of exciting events. There’s always something happening, and the city keeps me entertained all year round.
When I want to relax or take a break from my studying, I explore the beautiful nature around Adelaide, whether it’s the beaches, hills, or peaceful parks. I would say it’s easy to find your Zen just about anywhere.
The city has a strong support system for international students, including dedicated services, student ambassador programs, and cultural events that help newcomers feel at home and stay connected.
What are some of your favourite things to do in Adelaide?
One of my favourite things to do in Adelaide is exploring its amazing food and wine scene. I love visiting the Central Market and discovering new local cafés. There’s always something delicious to try!
I’m also a big fan of the city’s festivals and cultural events. Nature is another big draw for me. Whether it is hiking in Mount Lofty or taking peaceful walks along the coastline, these activities help me relax and recharge.
Outside of studying, I also spend my time volunteering, which brings me a lot of joy. I love helping others and meeting new people from different backgrounds.
Adelaide has so many volunteer opportunities, and over the past two years, I’ve had the chance to volunteer at the Adelaide Zoo, a hospital, a home for the elderly, and even at fundraising events. Adelaide offers countless opportunities to get involved, no matter your interests. Often, the people you meet through volunteering can become mentors, friends, or even future colleagues.
