Where are you from, and what have you studied and at which institution?

I'm from Sri Lanka, and I completed my Bachelor of Nursing from the University of South Australia, now known as Adelaide University

What motivated you to choose Adelaide over other Australian cities for your studies?

When I was exploring study options in Australia, Adelaide and Canberra stood out to me. It wasn’t until I arrived in Adelaide that I realised how much the environment helped me.

The city has been incredibly peaceful and provides a much-needed balance to the chaos in my head. To be completely honest, I can’t imagine living or working anywhere else now. Adelaide has truly become my home away from home.

What are some of your favourite things to do in Adelaide?

Outside of studying, I stayed very involved with the Uni as a Volunteer and Student Ambassador.

In my final year, I founded a mental health club under the student association at the Uni. So when I wasn’t studying or working, I was often busy planning events for the Health and Wellbeing Society.

As much as I loved my life at Uni, I knew I needed hobbies outside of it to stay balanced. One of my favourite hobbies is reading mystery-thriller novels, which is my perfect escape from reality.

I also picked up crocheting and cycling, often riding my bicycle to placements and rock climbing. Occasionally, I played basketball as well, and once a year, I attended a theatre musical because I am always in awe of how magical and powerful live performances are.
