Where are you from, and what have you studied and at which institution?
I'm from China, and I studied a Master of Screen and Media Production and a Master of Arts (Women’s and Gender Studies) from Flinders University.
My years at Flinders were truly transformative. I didn’t just gain technical skills; I found my voice and my community. My degree in Gender Studies reshaped how I approach storytelling, challenging me to consider whose stories are being told and how.
I felt genuinely supported by my lecturers, who recognised the value of my creative vision and encouraged me to embrace my identity as a young, multicultural woman working in a male-dominated industry. Being part of Adelaide’s close-knit creative community played a huge role in shaping my career.
What motivated you to choose Adelaide over other Australian cities for your studies?
I came to Adelaide when I was fifteen to finish high school. I thought it would be a short chapter in my life, but the lifestyle, the people, and the creative energy of the city pulled me in. I stayed first for my education, then to build a career, and Adelaide has become home ever since. Its vibrant multiculturalism and supportive community gave me space to grow and dream big.
Adelaide offers an excellent work-life balance, and for a workaholic like me, that means having the space to pursue passion projects alongside client work.
Adelaide has brought me closer to realising my childhood dream, and I’m excited to see where the journey takes me next.
