Saturday, 20 May 2023 (Day 1)

TODAY’S TIPS:  

  • Please bring a jacket with you for the Welcome Event as the evening temperatures will be cooler.

6:30pm Welcome dinner at Mrs Q restaurant, Gouger Street, Adelaide – Asian cuisine


Welcome Event  

The welcome event will host you – our interstate agents, new group StudyAdelaide’ s student Ambassadors, and StudyAdelaide staff. This will be a great opportunity for you to interact, engage and get acquainted with other delegates.  
Mrs Q Restaurant is the city’s most exciting mod-Asian Cuisine set in the historic Loft Wine bar on the busy and diverse Gouger street.  


Post Dinner Activities  

Adelaide gets you closer to the action with a vibrant city life and you can visit multiple places to experience the Saturday night life.  

Rundle Street is the heartbeat of Adelaide’s ever popular cosmopolitan East End District. Be tantalised by some of Adelaide’s best known wine bars making this strip one of Adelaide’s favourite hot spots for locals and tourists alike. Some of the must visit- bars on Rundle Street include:  

  • Hellbound Wine Bar 
  • La Taberna 
  • Mother Vine 
  • Society Bar 
  • Brklyn Bar 

Hindley Street is a melting pot of Adelaide’s creative culture combining an eclectic mix of eateries, galleries, restaurants, and night clubs. Some Must-visit bars on Hindley Street include:

Sunday, 21 May 2023 (Day 2)

TODAY’S TIPS:  

  • This day tour of Adelaide will bring you closer to the people who’ll make your time here a happy one. 

  • Wear comfortable, flat shoes for the day’s activities, there will be some walking involved.  

  • Bring a jacket as it’s often cooler in the Adelaide hills. We will be returning to the hotel only after dinner at 9pm.

Farmers Markets 

We will be visiting South Australia's largest farmers' market where around 3,500 visitors come to the market every SundayThis is Adelaide’s local community market where you can purchase local produce and meet the growers. The market offers a range of local produce, giftsand homemade products. International students often visit such markets to access discounted groceries and engage with the community.  


Hahndorf

A picturesque heritage listed town in the Adelaide Hills and popular tourist destination in South Australia. It is Australia’s oldest surviving German Settlement, settled in 1839, and now an artisan village. The main street is iconic with German buildings, bakeries, pubs and cafes.


Howard Vineyard 

Established in 1999 the Howard Vineyard site is a warmer vineyard in a cool climate. It is a second-generation family-owned business with a reputation of over 20 years for premium grape growing in the Adelaide Hills. 
The vineyards unique approach of sustainable viticulture; including intensive hand pruning, shoot and bunch thinning, low yields and hand picking have led to optimal ripeness for Shiraz, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet SauvignonSauvignon Blanc and world class Rosé varietals.


The Scenic Hotel 

Perched high in the clouds atop the hallowed summit of Norton, sits a jewel – The Scenic Hotel. Known for its glorious food prepared with local ingredients, the restaurant provides a modern twist on classic Australian pub food. If that’s not enough the view of Adelaide city from the restaurant is itself a mesmerising experience  

Monday, 22 May 2023 (Day 3)

TODAY’S TIPS:  

  • We will be visiting two of Adelaide’s high quality education institutions to see their facilities firsthand and engage with people who help students achieve excellence.  

  • Wear flat, closed-in shoes today, this is required for your visit to University of Adelaide campus 

  • Bring a jacket as it’s often cooler in the evening and we will be returning to the hotel only after dinner

Argentinian restaurant located in the heart of the city. The restaurant is known for its world renowned Asador experience featuring wood fired Parilla, combined with locally sourced 100% grass- fed, Coonawarra meat 

At dinner you will be joined by representatives from Flinders University, University of Adelaide, University of South Australia, TAFE SA and SA government schools 

Tuesday, 23 May 2023 (Day 4)

TODAY’S TIPS:  

  • We will be visiting two of Adelaide’s high quality education institutions to see their facilities firsthand and engage with people who help students achieve excellence.  
  • Wear flat, closed-in shoes today, this is required for your visit to TAFE SA’s Regency campus. 
  • Bring a jacket as it’s often cooler in the evening and we will be returning to the hotel only after dinner.

Wednesday,, 24 May 2023 (Day 5)

TODAY’S TIPS:  

  • Please check out prior to 8:10am. We will be placing all your luggage into the bus in the morning before leaving the hotel. The luggage will be on the bus for the whole day until you are dropped off at the airport.   
  • Please wear comfortable, flat shoes as there might be some walking involved.

With over 70 traders under one roof, the Adelaide Central Market is one of the largest undercover fresh produce markets in the Southern Hemisphere, buzzing with life and colour all year round. A perfect place within close proximity of student accommodation and city campuses for international students to shop 


Access Event  

This event is an exhibition event where you will get to meet over 40 of our institution partners and accommodation providers in one location. StudyAdelaide will provide insights on the market and its student engagement activities, as well as migration updates from Skilled + Business Migration

Here are the answers to some of the frequently asked questions we receive about our famils.

What's included?

Return flights from your  departure city to Adelaide, accommodation, breakfast, lunch, dinner, amazing experiences, and good times!

We have arranged all transportation from your arrival to Adelaide airport, to the day you return to Adelaide airport for departure.

Travel expenses such as shopping, taxis and incidental expenses are not included.

What is a famil?

Famil is short for familiarisation and gives participants to experience first-hand what a destination has to offer.

Who is StudyAdelaide?

StudyAdelaide is a South Australia state government destination marketing agency, working with over 55 education partners.

What can I expect?

The famil will involve visits and networking with 3 state universities (Flinders University, the University of Adelaide and University of South Australia), TAFE SA, and SA government schools.

The famil also includes activities to highlight the lifestyle and vibrancy that the city has to offer students.

The itinerary commences with an arrival flight into Adelaide on Saturday, 20th May 2023 and includes:

  • Interactive visits to institutions
  • Exciting touring activities
  • Access Adelaide Exhibition event
  • Recreational activities and much more…

Please note that the itinerary is subject to change.

I don’t have an agreement with all of the institutions in Adelaide, am I still eligible to visit their campus?

Yes. All delegates will have the opportunity to visit the three state universities (Flinders University, University of South Australia, and The University of Adelaide), TAFE SA, and SA Government School during the famil.

Do I need to be vaccinated?

While you do not need to be vaccinated to enter Adelaide to protect the health of others, we encourage you to have an up-to-date vaccination status.

What happens if I contract COVID during the famil?

If you test positive during the famil, you will need to follow the advice from SA Health. There is no mandatory quarantine or isolation required if you test positive for COVID-19.

To protect the health of others, we will request for you to avoid participating in the group until your acute symptoms have cleared. The StudyAdelaide team will be there to assist you and make your stay as comfortable as possible.

If I got any emergency during the Famil, who can I contact?

You can contact StudyAdelaide staff if there is any emergency needed. 

Will there be any personal expenses?

There will be some time during the Famil allow you to shop at different markets


Will I be staying in a Single room or will be shared with other participants?

All participants will be arranged a single room at the national award-winning ibis Adelaide.
