There’s never a dull moment in what has become known as the Festival State. Whether its comedy, theatre production or world class music, no other city hosts events like Adelaide does.
Adelaide and South Australia’s major events calendar can be found on the South Australian calendar of events, but we’ve compiled a list of some of the best events below.
Ebenezer Night Markets: 9 December – 11 March:
The Ebenezer Night Markets are held in Ebenezer Place throughout Friday and Saturday nights in the summer. The market has a wide selection of food, jewelry, fashion, artwork and crafts. Find out more about the Ebenezer Night Markets on their website.
Adelaide City Council’s free New Years Eve event: 31 December
This free event will include a family fairground on the western side of King William Road, with fun activities for kids and adults. There will be a kid’s street theatre stage program, an array of food stalls offering global cuisine and roving entertainers. Santos Tour Down Under: 14 – 22 January:
Australia’s premier cycling event, the Santos Tour Down Under will once again welcome the best cyclists from around the world to South Australia in January 2017. The event, first staged in 1999, has a rich history and has grown year on year to become the biggest cycling race in the southern hemisphere. In 2008 the TDU joined the prestigious UCI WorldTour, the first event outside cycling’s traditional home of Europe to do so. Find out more about the Tour Down Under on their website.
Adelaide Fringe: 17 February – 19 March
If you are looking for an unbelievable eclectic program of cabaret, comedy, circus, dance, film, theatre, music, visual art and design, then this is it. It’s Carnivale meets Mardi Gras, with the entire city of Adelaide transformed for one mind-blowing month, in the summer sun and across balmy, star-filled nights.
