Can you indicate what occupations are considered as critical sectors?

Are there any waiver options for high-performing graduates? What are the parameters?

For the current Expression of Interest process, PhD or Masters by Research graduates of South Australia will be considered for an invitation to apply without work experience.

Do international students have to stay in Australia for more than 7 years to get PR?

You don’t have to remain in South Australia for 7 years to get state nomination, you need to graduate in South Australia and then meet the work experience requirement in South Australia for your occupation.


How does DAMA (Designated Area Migration Agreement) work?

The South Australian DAMA, is a Designated Area Migration Agreement between the Commonwealth Government and the Government of South Australia to enable employers to sponsor skilled overseas workers for positions that they are unable to fill with local workers. South Australia has two DAMAs:

  • The Adelaide City Technology and Innovation Advancement: is the Designated Area Migration Agreement covering the Adelaide Metropolitan region only.
  • The South Australia Regional Workforce Agreement: is the Designated Area Migration Agree covering the entire state of South Australia.

How much time would it takes to convert a student visa into Temporary Residency and PR?

The Australian Department of Home Affairs administers all decisions and is the authority to all matter related to visa eligibility, conditions and grants.

If the student is working under his nominated occupation with ABN for 12 months, does this qualify for "working for the last 12 months" condition? Or the job must be conducted with TFN only to meet the above condition?

You would need to provide sufficient evidence that you have been working for the required period for at least 40 hours per fortnight in your nominated (or closely related) occupation. 

You should collect evidence such as BAS, invoices from clients, service agreements, lease agreement, superannuation. 

Those are just some examples and you will need to check the requirements for your occupation once we have published the occupation list for 20/21.


What visas are available to students who study in Adelaide after graduation related to migration?

International graduates of South Australia have the opportunity to apply for a permanent or provisional state nominated visa depending on their occupation and situation. Is there an anticipated date of when the new SA occupation list will be announced?

Skilled Occupation List has not been published yet.

I am currently an offshore student and have started my program at an institution in Adelaide.  I cannot travel however due to the COVID-19 border restrictions.  Will this affect my 485-visa requirement and later 491 VISA requirements?

I have applied for a skills assessment as a Community Worker and have more than year of experience as a Disability Support Worker. Which visas I am eligible to apply for permanent residency and when they will be opened to apply?

You can become a permanent resident of Australia by applying for and being granted a permanent visa. The most common permanent visas are skilled work visas.

I have completed a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) from The University of Adelaide and a Master of Accounting and finance at the University of Melbourne.  I'm currently doing an MBA at The University of Adelaide and working as a junior assistant accountant in Adelaide. I guess I will be applying graduate visa 485 after I complete MBA in Adelaide. What is the next best thing I should do to obtain PR?

I completed a Master of Professional Accounting (Coursework) and achieved a GPA of 6.37 which makes me a high performing graduate.  I have been working as an Accountant in an accounting firm for almost 1.5 years. I have 80 points for 190 and 90 points for 491. What are my chances of PR?
