If you are looking for a pathway to work as a supervisor in hospitality organisations such as restaurants, hotels, motels, clubs, pubs, cafés, and coffee shops, this qualification allows for multi-skilling and for specialisation in accommodation services, food and beverage, and gaming.
Course Notes
Students may wish to consider one of three TAFE SA packages:
1. Certificate III in Hospitality, Certificate IV in Hospitality, and the Diploma of Hospitality Management.
2. Certificate III in Hospitality, Certificate IV in Hospitality, Diploma of Hospitality Management and the Bachelor of Tourism, Hospitality and Events Management. Students would receive 36 units of credit (approximately 1 year) into the Bachelor, making the Bachelor duration 2 years.
3. Certificate III in Hospitality, Certificate IV in Hospitality and the Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management for a total duration of 1.5 academic years (3 semesters).
Students will complete any remaining placement hours (from Certificate III), the Certificate IV and part of the Diploma/Advanced Diploma concurrently during the 2nd semester of the package of courses. Students choosing to exit with a Certificate IV (and not complete the Diploma/Advanced Diploma) will complete the Certificate III & Certificate IV qualifications within 1 academic year.
Employment Outcomes
Possible career opportunities include working as a bar supervisor, team leader, food and beverage supervisor, shift manager.

Certificate IV in Hospitality (SIT40416)
This course provides graduates with a broad range of hospitality skills combined with sound knowledge of industry operations. They will be able to operate independently or with limited guidance from others and use discretion to solve problems. They will develop the skills to undertake supervisory responsibilities and plan, monitor and evaluate the work of team members. To complete the qualification you are required to complete all 9 core units and 12 elective units.
