The winner of the StudyAdelaide, Adelaide Zoo trip photo competition is…Saifullah Bakri!
The University of Adelaide architecture student from Malaysia says the kangaroos were the perfect photographic subject.
“The kangaroos were definitely the most friendly animal and they were easy to get near to; they’re also one of the main symbols of Australia,” Saifullah says.
“I actually did some research to find out some cool angles for animal shots and I like taking a lot of random, candid pictures so it turned out well.”
The free StudyAdelaide event attracted almost 200 international students from around the world including China, Hong Kong, Italy, Uganda, Fiji and America.
“I thought the zoo was amazing! It was the first time I had been there and apart from the kangaroos, of course I loved the pandas,” Saifullah says.
More than just a hobby, the talented student has turned photography into a small business.
“In my second year in Adelaide I started buying all the photography equipment and a friend taught me the basics,” Saifullah says.
“I now know how to use the software to edit images and like taking everything from portraits to family photos and photography at events like weddings and graduations.”
