StudyAdelaide held a free wine tasting function at the National Wine Centre on the 16 of August. This event attracted approximately 250 international students from various backgrounds.
In different cultures, wine has various images associated with it. Even drinking wine can have strict conventions. Before I came to Adelaide, I learnt that wine must complement meat. Red wine usually goes with red meat, such as beef and lamb. White wine typically matches white meat, like pork, chicken or seafood. After being in Adelaide for almost two years, I have realised wine is not limited to meals. My friends from South Korea and Malaysia are good at tasting and selecting wines. They took me to the Barossa Valley, where we spent a whole afternoon at Penfolds. With them, I tried biscuits and cheeses which accompanied the wine. The final taste was smooth and pleasant. For me, wine tasting now means hanging out with my friends.
