One Semester Down…

I am an American in Australia, and loving it. I have now finished my first semester at TAFE South Australia and am about to start my second semester. The first term was what aussies refer to as ‘chock-o-block’ full of activities, homework, making new friends, and more than anything readjusting to living and studying in a new place, a new city, a new country.

Honestly, the readjusting phase took a bit for me. I enjoy living in Adelaide, but learning a new grading system at school and adjusting to a different style of teaching was a little daunting. After a few assignments, a few hits and a few more misses, I think I am getting it. Now I’m getting ready for my second semester, and looking forward to it. Although the first semester proved challenging, and at times slightly overwhelming, I think studying in Adelaide has clicked for me. As I frequently tell my friends back home in the states, ‘it just fits’. Studying in Adelaide and living in Australia fits me. It is easy to live here, the people are amazing, and the education is just different enough for a change of pace. I couldn’t recommend more highly coming to Australia and studying here in Adelaide. The education is ‘on-point’ and the experience is worth every dollar. If on the fence about taking off to another country for study, I must say nothing compares to taking the risk of leaving home and setting off on your own to go study in another country. The opportunities, the people, the experience = AMAZING! And experience than is uncomparable to another, and once in a lifetime.

One semester down and one more semester to go and I am looking foward to the adventure ahead!!! I plan to keep you posted as my adventure continues and maybe I’ll see you here in Adelaide studying alongside me and other students in the city of Adelaide real soon :)

Until next time…
