Mt. Lofty

This last weekend I had the wonderful opportunity to spend it up in the Adelaide Hills. Early morning sunrise over the beautiful hills as the fog rolled away was stunning to witness. The air was crisp, clean, and clear. I rarely get the opportunity to go out much further than the Adelaide City borders and the suburb I live in since I do not own a car, so this weekend getaway was a nice treat. I enjoyed the morning with a nice buffet breakfast at the Mt. Lofty hotel, which was quite impressive might I add, after I was completely full I got myself ready to make the big hike down then back up again Mt. Lofty. Yes, you read correctly, down the mountain then back up the mountain. Apparently that is the hard way to do it, but not knowing better at the time that is what we did. At the top of the mountain is a beautiful view overlooking the entire sitting of Adelaide. It is gorgeous! Especially in the wee early hours of the morning. The hike down was a little harsh on the knees, but we were not alone, there were quite a large number of people making the same climb we were. I was most impressed by those who were attempting to run the entire hike and making the rest of us look bad, since the hill is at approximately a 45 degree angle, or at least so it seemed. We walked down and looked at the waterfall at the bottom in awe then realised it was time to make the climb back up. ahhh! So we started. It wasn’t all that bad though. The climb was beautiful, surrounded by Australian nature and many others who were attempting to make the same trek. At the top I felt proud of myself and to reward myself had a lovely coffee at the top where there is a nice little cafe to rest up. All in all if you make it out to study in Adelaide, try to do this climb. You will not regret it! Take a few friends and make a day of it, or a morning sunrise of it, I promise you will enjoy it :)
