I was recently lucky enough to go and check out the Royal Adelaide Show Media Preview Day, and I’m really excited to tell everyone about it!
The day began in the technology centre, where we were treated to a new exhibit called “The Symphony of Lights” which is a series of colourful lights that are set to some beautiful music. It was a lot like being at a rock concert, but much more up close so that you could really appreciate all the skill that goes into creating such a beautiful display!
One of the other cool things in the technology centre that I had the pleasure of seeing was the “Robot Vacuum” on display. The vacuum not only continually cleans your floors, but when it’s tired it will return to its charging station. Upon completion of charging, the vacuum will then return to the exact place in the house that it left off! How cool is that? Another cool thing was the 3D dual display television that they had on display. The TV was capable of showing two different programs at once and what you were watching was dependent on which glasses you were wearing. So, theoretically, two people could watch two different things at once, on the same TV! It may be a tad anti-social, but I think it’s cool nonetheless!
The rain unfortunately wreaked havoc on the rest of the day, and we were only able to do one of the rides that were scheduled for the afternoon. The ride that we did was called “Hollywood Horrors” and it was basically a haunted house. I don’t scare very easily, but it was quite well done. Some of the kids who were there visiting from a local primary school seemed to be terrified by it and I thought that was a pretty good endorsement! The rides all looked great, despite the rain, so I definitely encourage everyone to go check them out!
After that there wasn`t much time left in the day, as it was pouring rain. The day definitely did get me excited about the Show, and I would fully recommend that anyone reading this go and check it out!
The Royal Adelaide Show runs until 15 September. This annual event features a host of displays, competitions, animals, rides and food. For more information on the many attractions go to www.theshow.com.au
