Back to OZ

My holiday in the states was fantastic. I spent time with my new nephew, my siblings, my parents and got engaged! I found me an Aussie bloke that flew halfway around the world to surprise me before I arrived at the Portland airport to propose down on one knee with a ring in hand. Everything about my trip was perfect, but after five weeks spent back in the United States visiting family and friends, planning a December wedding, celebrating the fourth of July by attending the Molalla Buckeroo and eating an elephant ear, fried dough covered in cinnamon and sugar, it was time to return …home?
I often find myself wondering where to call home now. I live in Australia, LOVE Australia, but was born in the USA and all my family lives back in Oregon. Now I will be making Australia permanent. I am very excited about making Australia MY home. The state of Oregon, where I was born and raised and my family resides, will always be home; but my life is now in Australia. It thrills me to know that I have successfully moved to another country. I come from a land known for its opportunities, but I wouldn’t trade living in Australia and making it my home for anything. I do not feel as though I am an alien in this country, but rather welcomed by each and every person I meet. The opportunities have been countless for me, the weather isn’t nearly as awful as the Oregon winters, it always seems like there is a beach right nearby, and the relaxed “she’ll be right” attitude that this country offers makes for a great place to call home.
